Trauma Therapy in Los Angeles

Trauma doesn't always look the way people expect. It can show up as anxiety that won't quit, relationships that keep falling apart, a body that feels tense or disconnected, or a persistent sense that something is wrong - even when life looks fine on the outside.

At NEST, our trauma-specialised therapists in Los Angeles understand that healing isn't linear and that the right approach depends entirely on you. We offer evidence-based, body-informed trauma therapy for adults and teens throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

What Is Trauma Therapy?

Trauma therapy is a category of evidence-based treatment designed to help people process and recover from distressing experiences that have overwhelmed their nervous system's ability to cope. This includes single-incident traumas (accidents, assault, loss) and complex trauma - repeated or prolonged experiences like childhood abuse, neglect, domestic violence, or systemic oppression.

Effective trauma therapy works at the level of the nervous system, not just the narrative. That's why NEST clinicians draw on somatic, body-based approaches alongside traditional talk therapy.

Trauma Therapy Approaches at NEST

  • EMDR is one of the most well-researched trauma treatments available. Zaakirah Daniels, LCSW brings deep expertise in EMDR, particularly for high-achieving adults and women of colour navigating complex trauma, burnout, and depression.

  • Olivia Moses is a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) - a rigorous, multi-year training. Somatic Experiencing works directly with the body to complete incomplete trauma responses and restore natural nervous system regulation, without requiring the client to re-tell or relive their story in detail.

  • Multiple NEST clinicians integrate somatic awareness into their work, recognising that trauma is stored in the body. Anthony Kozlowski brings a somatic trauma healing background, and Morgan Siggard weaves somatic attunement into her attachment-focused approach.

  • IFS is a powerful, compassionate model that helps people understand and heal the different parts of themselves that carry trauma. Setareh Vatan integrates IFS alongside Jungian and psychodynamic work.

  • For clients whose trauma has not responded to conventional approaches, NEST also offers Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and psychedelic integration support as adjunctive trauma treatment.
