Welcome to Therapy at NEST
Starting therapy is a courageous step. To help you feel more comfortable and get the most out of your first session, here are a few simple ways to prepare:
Mental Preparation
Set an intention: Think about what brought you to therapy and what you hope to explore.
Clarify your goals: You don’t need to have all the answers — your therapist will help you identify and refine these together.
Bring openness: Therapy is a safe space. Come ready to share honestly at your own pace.
Take notes if helpful: Jot down any thoughts, questions, or experiences you want to talk about.
Technical Preparation (for online sessions)
Check your tech: Make sure Zoom is installed and up to date before your session begins.
Test your setup: Confirm that your camera, microphone, and internet connection are working.
Find your space: Choose a quiet, private place where you can feel comfortable and free from interruptions.
Use headphones if possible: This can improve sound quality and protect your privacy.
Practical Preparation
Have your paperwork ready: Complete any forms or questionnaires we’ve sent you in advance.
Plan your timing: Give yourself a few minutes before and after your session to settle in and reflect.
Payment: Confirm your payment method and insurance information (if applicable).
What to Expect in Your First Session
Your therapist will review confidentiality and answer any questions you may have.
You’ll share a little about your history, concerns, and goals.
Together, you’ll begin shaping a plan for your therapy journey.
